Kenneth F. Money, Jr., Attorney-at-Law, is a sole practitioner at Money Law Offices, P.L.L.C. in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He concentrates his practice in the areas of estate planning, probate and trust administration, business law, and real estate law while serving the legal needs of individuals, trusts, estates, and business clients statewide in New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, and Florida. His professional goal is to provide quality legal representation for his clients in a responsive and accessible environment.
In 1991, Mr. Money received his Bachelor
of Arts degree in Economics, magna cum
laude, from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the
University of New Hampshire, and, in 1994, his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from the University of Miami
School of Law. While attending law
school, he was the Managing Editor of the University of Miami School of Law Business
Law Journal, received an American Jurisprudence Book Award in the study of
Bankruptcy, was a member of the Eugene P. Spellman American Inn of Court, and
was elected to the 1993‑94 Who’s Who Among Students in American
Universities and Colleges.
Attorney Money is a member of the New
Hampshire Bar Association, the Rockingham County (N.H.) Bar Association, the
Maine State Bar Association, the Bar of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the
Florida Bar, the American Bar Association, and he is admited to practice before
the U.S. Tax Court. Attorney Money is
also a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association Taxation Section, the Maine
State Bar Association Trusts and Estates Section, the Massachusetts Bar Probate
Law and Taxation Sections, the Florida Bar Real Property, Probate and Trust Law
Section, the American Bar Association Section of Real Property, Probate and
Trust Law, the New Hampshire Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service, and the
Maine Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service.
In addition, he is an Approved Attorney for First American Title
Insurance Company in New Hampshire and Maine, and an associate member of the
National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA).
In his estate planning practice, Attorney
Money is experienced in preparing and implementing various succession plans and
strategies for clients involving Advance Directives, including Durable Powers
of Attorney for Financial Matters, Durable Powers of Attorney for Health Care,
and Living Wills; Wills, including “Pourover” Wills and Wills providing for
Testamentary Trusts; Revocable Living Trusts, for probate avoidance and Federal
Estate Tax planning purposes, along with important related trust funding
instruments; Special Needs Trusts; Irrevocable Trusts, including Irrevocable
Life Insurance Trusts, Irrevocable Children’s Trusts, Irrevocable
Grandchildren’s Trusts, and Charitable Trusts; and also Family Limited
Partnerships and LLCs.
His estate planning practice focuses on
achieving clients’ goals through appropriate and orderly testamentary
arrangements that minimize administration costs and Federal Estate and
Gift Tax
consequences. Asset protection and generation-skipping
strategies may also be utilized where appropriate. Attorney Money’s estate planning practice
is enhanced by his ability to practice as a licensed attorney in New Hampshire,
Maine, Massachusetts, and Florida.
Attorney Money’s interest in estate planning is reflected in his role as
a member of both the New Hampshire Estate Planning Council and the Maine Estate
Planning Council.
Working with clients in connection with
all aspects of probate
administration, Attorney Money provides comprehensive representation in the
settlement of decedents’ estates. He
assists clients with the preparation of required Probate Court filings,
Inventories, and Accountings, and advises clients regarding estate management
issues such as marshalling assets, satisfying debts and taxes of decedents, and
closing estates. He also represents
trustees, successor trustees, and beneficiaries in connection with the administration
of trusts.
Attorney Money’s
business law practice involves the formation of business entities such as
corporations (including nonprofit and professional corporations), limited
liability companies, limited partnerships, and other business associations for
clients. By providing such services as
annual meeting resolution preparation, shareholder agreements, buy-sell
planning, business planning, and business succession planning, he also meets
the ongoing needs of his business clients.
Attorney
Money is a member of the Greater Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce where he is a
member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce
Foundation. The Foundation is a
non-profit corporation which houses the Portsmouth Harbor Trail project and
other cultural and historic related activities which are designed to develop
Portsmouth as a visitor destination.
Attorney Money has served on the Board of Directors and Advisory Board
of The Learning Skills Academy as well.
The Academy is a private, state-approved, special education day school
located in Rye, New Hampshire, for students with language learning difficulties
from across New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts. Attorney Money also serves on the Board of Directors of the
Seacoast Area Widowed Persons Service, Inc., an organization under the
sponsorship of AARP with financial support from the Greater Seacoast United Way
and local patrons, which conducts an outreach program in which trained widowed
volunteers offer support to newly widowed persons.
